To celebrate my mother's 60th birthday, my dad and I planned a family trip to Niagara-on-the Lake, Ontario, Canada! We began by traveling up on Friday, July 20th by car. Friday evening we had reservations at the Revolving Dining Room in the Skylon Tower. The views were absolutely incredible, the food was good, and the company of each other was the best! We walked up and down the falls after dinner. Our hotel was called White Oaks Resort and Spa . . . it was stunning, and I would recommend and return!
Saturday was up and out early for our scheduled wine tour. It was an all-day festivity with Vintage Niagara Wine Tours. We traveled around the area to four different wineries, of all calibers. We tasted about 3 or 4 wines at each stop and had lunch at the Charles Inn. I have to admit this limited selection menu was my favorite meal of the whole trip with lobster bisque to start, then a burger with fries, finished with an s'mores desert!
Sunday was a bit relaxed and began killing some time at Canada's largest outlet mall across the street from our resort. After picking up some goodies we decided to head to Wayne Gretzky's distillery and winery. There they distill their own whiskey (we sampled, and I disliked strongly) and sell wine from wineries around the area. We enjoyed lunch at the Gretzky Estates. We walked around downtown Niagara-On-The Lake in the afternoon. Then we headed to a nice final dinner before heading to the Royal George Theatre (a part of the Shaw Festival Theatre) to see the play, Stage Kiss. While it was unexpectedly raunchy and explicit, it was very funny, and anytime spent with the people I love is wonderful!
On Monday, we returned home with too much wine and more incredible memories with my favorite people in the world!
